Behind Cloisters Interactive and Concept 1

For this update, I’ll be continuing our discussion from last time about how everyone has a different idea of what they want players to feel.

Please let me take you back to when I first started my studio! At the time, I thought about many different names. The final decision came down to Moon Valley and Cloisters.

Moon Valley was inspired by one of my favorite films, Lawrence of Arabia (1962), which was filmed in the Wadi Rum Protected Area, widely known as the Valley of the Moon. It carries a sense of adventure — the stories of heroes, and the beauty found within vast emptiness.

Cloisters is a reference to The Met Cloisters. When I was living in NYC, I visited the Cloisters Museum in Upper Manhattan many times, and each visit deeply affected me. I found a sense of peace and tranquility in its beautiful gardens and architecture.

I want to create games that give players the same feeling that The Met Cloisters gave me.

It gives me endless inspiration, filling my mind with new thoughts and images.

However, translating what inspires us into what we create is always a challenge. Concept 1 is a reminder to myself to continue holding onto the principles and feelings I want Cloisters Interactive to represent.
